Event Description

Both teachers and learners alike consider intonation to be a challenge. Adding pragmatics to this mix further intensifies the challenge. To enable ESL learners to successfully engage with a diverse range of speakers, however, it is important for learners to be able to understand nuances of meaning. These nuances are frequently tied to subtleties of intonation use within a particular context. This webinar will unpack some of the major issues surrounding the practicalities of teaching intonation and pragmatics and offer a series of recommendations, including through the use of GenAI, for teaching them in the English language classroom.
