In this practical webinar, participants will learn how to create interactive, web-based pronunciation activities that can be easily embedded into LMS platforms, Google Sites, or Pressbooks. The session will cover exercises focused on listening discrimination, script highlighting, quizzes, speech recognition with automated feedback, speech-to-text, and dictation, using tools like H5P and reusable HTML code. The presenter will demonstrate how to build and upload different exercise types, and will share links to free, embeddable activities for immediate classroom use. Additionally, attendees will learn about findings from a quantitative study at Portland Community College, showing how these tools improved students’ pronunciation skills.
By attending, you will:
✔️ Learn how to create and embed interactive pronunciation tasks into various online platforms.
✔️ Explore exercise types that develop segmental and suprasegmental skills through self-paced practice.
✔️ Gain access to free, embeddable resources created by the presenter and others.
✔️ Understand research evidence supporting the effectiveness of web-based tools in pronunciation instruction.
H5P is a free and open-source content collaboration framework based on JavaScript. H5P is an abbreviation for HTML5 Package, and aims to make it easy for everyone to create, share and reuse interactive HTML5 content.
