Learner-led lessons: Tapping into student work for developing course materials (MW-IG)
7/23/2021
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Event Description
Put your textbook away. Turn off your computer. Take a break from developing your own course materials and leave the creating to your learners! Join the CATESOL Material Writers Interest Group for a workshop on using student work (e.g., a written paragraph, a short video) rather than teacher- or textbook-created materials to increase student interest, motivation, and uptake. Presenters Ingrid Bairstow, Nicole Brun-Mercer, and Ryan Detwiler will model how to (1) transform error correction into fun, engaging activities, (2) publish a student-created recipe e-book, and (3) enliven student research projects with meaningful opportunities for social sharing. Activities suitable for beginning through advanced levels and most educational settings (adult education, IEP, and more). Friday, July 23, 2021, from 10-11:30 am PDT on Zoom. Free for CATESOL members. $5 for non-members.
