Event Description
Navigating Institutional and Cultural Barriers to LGBTQ+ Inclusive Teaching Practices
Roundtable Discussion
This roundtable invites colleagues to reflect deeply on what inclusive teaching means in practice—beginning with the simple but powerful question, "What comes to mind when you hear the phrase 'inclusive teaching' ”? Participants will discuss the approaches they already use to create affirming, identity‑aware learning spaces for LGBTQ+ students and consider how these practices show up in their day‑to‑day instruction. As the conversation unfolds, we will also explore the barriers—whether institutional, cultural, or community‑based—that shape our ability to sustain and expand these practices.
Through shared storytelling, collaborative problem‑solving, and collective reflection, this session provides an opportunity for colleagues to examine their own strategies, name the challenges they face, and learn from one another’s experiences in building more inclusive learning environments.
