Using H5P’s Speech Recognition for Asynchronous Pronunciation Activities
A Case Study from Portland Community College

Celebrated for its seamless integration with leading Learning Management Systems, H5P (HTML5 Package) has become an increasingly popular choice for creating interactive resources and exercises for ESOL students. At Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, H5P’s speech recognition capabilities were used to assemble a comprehensive tool to help multilingual students improve their ability to produce suprasegmental features of English.

During the webinar, PCC instructors Patryk Mrozek and Kate Carney will walk participants through the making and implementation of the pronunciation tool, share preliminary qualitative data gathered from instructors and students, and present practical step-by-step instructions for creating custom pronunciation-focused activities in H5P.
