Event Description
This 75-minute workshop introduces ESL educators to the innovative world of AI-driven teaching material creation using the free Large Language Model (LLM) ChatGPT 3.5. "The Sword in The Stone: Engineering prompts to more effectively wield generative AI" offers a deep dive into 'prompt engineering,' a method enabling educators to generate customized ESL materials efficiently. Participants will explore the process of creating varied teaching resources, from dialogues to grammar tables, specifically tailored for A1-level classes. The workshop includes practical, hands-on sessions where attendees apply these techniques, followed by a discussion on the broader implications to other CEFR levels and the potential of AI in ESL education. Comprehensive handouts with best practices and prompt examples will be provided. This workshop is essential for any educator interested in getting started using ChatGPT and wishes to cut through the confusion and conflicting information often shared on AI.
